Albas 2

Alba Samera and deliciosa, these bad boys just got crossed.

Phalaenopsis maculata 5

Phalaenopsis maculata
A pretty rare species up here in Canada. I grow it potted and it does okay. It is most definitely not an easy species to grow. Cream white flower with red markings.

The Pinkhouse in sunny July 4

The Pinkhouse in sunny July
Our first full summer and the plants are loving it. Blooms a plenty and over 40 seed pods on the way, overall a grand success but beware of the guard dogs.

Phalaenopsis mariae 1

Phalaenopsis mariae

Phalaenopsis deliciosa

Phalaenopsis deliciosa
The wonder and variety of the Phal species. I find it very interesting how different the side lobs are on the standard form, whereas the hookeriana(yellow) form seems far more consistent.   Quarter for size reference

Phalaenopsis Penang Girl ‘Dark’ 4

Phalaenopsis Penang Girl 'Dark'
Made using a Norton strain violacea, I simply love this plant and she is scented too.

Epipactis helleborine 3

Epipactis helleborine
Seems a few of these have sprung up in our garden. I believe them to be Epipactis helleborine but I am no hardy orchid expert can anyone confirm?

Phalaenopsis corningiana

Phalaenopsis corningiana
Blooming season for these beauts. Looking forward to breeding them.

Interesting colour change

Interesting colour change
These flowers only opened a few days apart on the same plant. The one with the strong red pigment is the slightly older one. Plant is Phalaenopsis Lokelani (sanderiana “Seashell” x cornu-cervi var. sanguinea “Carmine”)

Phalaenopsis Yaphon Festival

Phalaenopsis Yaphon Festival
This plant was a gift and not something I would normally buy. However now that it has bloomed I kinda like it.

Phalaenopsis Lokelani (sanderiana “Seashell” x cornu-cervi var. sanguinea “Carmine”)

Phalaenopsis Lokelani (sanderiana “Seashell” x cornu-cervi var. sanguinea “Carmine”)
I made this cross a few years ago and it has finally bloomed. Oscar Kirsch registered this cross in 1949 but I have never been able to find a photo. The cross is made with very differently shaped parents. I do like the results.   Parents

Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. laotica?

Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. laotica?
Anyone that has every been in my Pinkhouse knows that I have way too many pulcherrimas. I am fascinated by this species and its variable colour forms. I do have a several of a form that I find very unusual from its growth pattern to its flowers size. I believe it to be pulcherrima var. laotica  They were imported ...

Flasking day 5

Flasking day
It is going to be a long day in the lab today but it will all be worth it once them bloom.

Phalaenopsis Flores Sunset 2

Phalaenopsis Flores Sunset
This is our remake of this pirmary hybrid (floresensis x inscriptiosinensis). Must be blooming season as we have numerous in bloom. I am a big fan of the creamy white background of both parents. I also love this form too bad the judges tend not to.

Phal. San Shia Appendo (appendiculata x pulcherrima) 1

Phal. San Shia Appendo (appendiculata x pulcherrima)

Pinkhouse’s pink flowers 1

Pinkhouse's pink flowers
Pink flowers from the Pinkhouse   Phalaenopsis mentawaiensis. One of our newly acquired species in its first bloom.   Phalaenopsis pulchra. This species has a nice saturated pink colour that is enhanced by the glossiness of the petals. It keikis(make small baby plants) often, so if you own one you will probably own several soon ...
